The Day the Earth Stood Still... a 1951 sci-fi masterpiece directed by Robert Wise. This is one of my favorite movies of all time, made in the decade of science fiction. It begins with an alien named Klaatu landing in Washington, D.C. With military officials and the public bracing for an attack, nobody except for a government secretary and her son know Klaatu's true intentions.
This film has great acting, a great message of peace on Earth (and in the universe), and one of cinema's coolest robots, Gort - a galactic "policeman" who vaporizes the military's guns and tanks after Klaatu is harmed by a trigger-happy soldier when he first emerges from the spaceship.

Introduction & Information Sources That I Use

Why this blog exists

I made this blog because I'm a big fan of movies. Mostly older movies - my username TheFriendlySaboteur was inspired by the title of an Alfred Hitchcock movie Saboteur. 

I've also made this blog to (hopefully) get more people interested in classic movies. Today's movies, with tons of explosions, blood, big special effects, and other things seem to make people ignore the films that shaped cinema. Not that modern films are bad; I enjoy a lot of them. Still, I want people to realize that old movies can be as great as newer ones, since today they are stereotyped to be boring and very slow-paced.

What you can expect
I plan to post anything interesting (pertaining to movies) on this blog. Reviews are what I'm really eager to begin. I won't just do film reviews, but reviews of DVDs and Blu-Rays too. I also plan to post my opinions on certain subjects such as debates in the film community.
